Galen Hall is your newest PCA (and NAPT) main event champion. The 24 year old from San Francisco entered heads-up vs the erratic Chris Oliver with a 4:1 chip deficit. But he managed to fight his way to the title, cracking QQ with A8s on the final hand, and pocketing $2.4 million.

This event was the first time a NAPT event was streamed live on ESPN. There was a one hour tape delay, but viewers were able to catch all the action and not just editor cuts.

Also William Molson of Canada bested out 150 other players to take home the 2011 PCA High Rollers Event. This $25,000 buy-in had a prize pool of almost $4 million, and with the first place Will Molson won over $1.072 million, the biggest win of his career.

Another Canadian, Andrew Chen also took home a PCA title by winning the $5,000 Bounty Shootout for a total of $269,000. On the final hand, Chen knocked out both Shaun Deeb and Michael Binger to win it all.

This marked the end of the 2011 PCA, 2012 PCA should be even bigger. Here is hoping that the next NAPT event will be announced soon as well.

The PokerStars Caribbean Adventure is the first major tournament series of the year and the first event in the new NAPT season. The PCA started with a huge bang, the super high roller event featuring an enormous $100,000 buyin. 37 players ponied up the 6 figure buyin, and the eventual winner … Eugene Katchalov who earned himself a cool $1,500,000. Eugene bested PokerStars pro Daniel Negreanu in a 6 hour epic heads-up duel to claim the top prize. It was a bitter sweet day for Kid Poker though, with his 2nd place and $1,000,000 prize money, he moved himself ahead of Phil Ivey to become #1 on the All Time poker tournament money list.

Here are the top 5 payouts

1. Eugene Katchalov, United States, $1,500,000
2. Daniel Negreanu, Canada, $1,000,000
3. Bryn Kenney, United States, $643,000
4. Nick Schulman, United States, $400,000
5. Humberto Brenes, Costa Rica, $200,000

The PCA Super High Roller event will be televised on ESPN later this year. The PCA main event is also running right now.

Also PokerStars pro Vanessa Rousso will be holding “The Art of Poker: An Intermediate Guide to Tournament Theory” workshop.

So the NAPT is going back to the west coast to continue their series. It was widely rumoured that an LA stop was a must, but the problem with the date is

1) It’s sooooo late, the wsop series is ending mid July (not including the final table). Even if players take August off, what happened to stops in September or October?

2) This completely interferes with the British Columbia Poker Championships (BCPC) which usually runs during the same time period. This puts dampers on the prospect of a 2010 North American Poker Tour stop in Canada.

Perhaps I am overlooking the fact that this is simply “a new” stop and not the next stop, then hopefully there will also be a Vancouver stop before or after NAPT Los Angeles or NAPT The Bike whatever this event will be nicknamed.
